Jewish Bread Rosh Hashanah/Tu Bishvat Dry fruits Recipe

💕INGREDIENTS:-

  • 1/2 cup warm water

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1 Tbsp. dry yeast

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 egg yolk

  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

  • 1tsp. salt

  • 3+3/4 cups flour

  • Filling-

  • 5 dry figs

  • 5 dates

  • 5 prunes

  • 1/4 cup raisins

TO MAKE

Add water, yeast honey to a mixer, mix, let sit 3 minutes

Add one egg yolk to the yeast mixture, mix well

Add flour gradually, one cup at a time

Flour a bowl and transfer dough to the bowl

Cover and let rise for one and half hour

while the dough is resting chop all dry fruits to a raisin size pieces.

Roll to open the dough to a 1/4” thick, divide to 3 pieces

Roll each dough to 3” x 10” to make a simple challah braiding

Roll dough pieces to open and spread all dry fruits on the Three long dough pieces.

Roll each piece of dough to a long log and braid the three logs together to make a simple challah .

Flour a bundt cake pan and place challah all around the bundt cake to make a circle.

Brush challah with egg and transfer to the oven

Bake at 350F for 20 minutes, then cover with foil and bake another 5-7 minutes.
