INGREDIENTS

1 package of phyllo dough

1 cup of sugar

2 tsp. cinnamon

q tsp. cloves

1 tsp. cardamom

4 cups walnuts- coarsely chopped.

1 cup almonds- coarsely chopped.

2 cups vegetable oil or 4 sticks of unsalted butter

For the syrup-

2/3 cup water

1/3 cup sugar

1 tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. orange blossom

1/2 tsp. lemon juice

  • TO MAKE

Mix all the filling ingredients first, set aside.

Get the phyllo dough ready, get 2 clean kitchen towels before you open the phyllo package, in case you need to cover the phyllo dough if it is dry. Place one phyllo dough on a baking pan, brush with the butter or vegetable oil. Do not put too much oil, repeat with 6 more phyllo dough.

I am dividing the pan to make two different fillings in the Baklava, I am also dividing the filling to two bowls. On the right side I am adding the filling described above.

For the second half I am adding 1/2 cup dark chocolate to the filling.

Mix the dark chocolate chip before adding to the second half of filling.

Now I am ready to go back to brushing the phyllo dough and lay them one on top of the other. I brushed all the phyllo dough that was left in the package. Make sure to generously brush the last phyllo dough on top.

Use a sharp knife to make the slices BEFORE the baking of Baklava. The gap between the slices should be no more than 2” each.

Enjoy and share the recipe with family and friends.

As always, with love, from my kitchen to yours

Enjoy 💕
